A frequência no uso de canais de mídias sociais como Facebook e Youtube são apontados como os grandes responsáveis pelos efeitos colaterais desagradáveis que colaboram para uma má noite de sono.
Um novo estudo da Universidade de Pittsburgh sugere que os usuários freqüentes dos 11 canais de mídia social mais populares experimentam mais distúrbios do sono do que àqueles que logon com menos frequência. As descobertas devem incentivar os médicos a discutir o uso de mídia social, quanto ao tratamento de adultos e jovens com problemas de sono.
Jessica Levenson PhD uma pesquisadora pós-doutorada no departamento de psiquiatria da universidade, informa eu seu comunicado que sua equipe realizou uma pesquisa com 1.800 pessoas com idades entre 16 e 32 anos que gastam em media uma hora por dia em uma ou mais das principais plataformas com quase 30 % deles sofreram “altos níveis” de distúrbio do sono.
A pesquisa da Dra Levenson apontou para três causas específicas de uso da mídia social que podem contribuir para problemas de sono:
1 – O engajamento no fim de noite em canais de mídia social pode simplesmente deslocar o tempo de sono e manter o cérebro em estado de alerta.
2 – A interação com outros usuários sobre estas plataformas podem desencadear um fator emocional, cognitivo, ou reações fisiológicas que podem fazer com que o adormecer seja mais dificultoso.
3- A luz emitida por telas de computador pode perturbar o ritmo circadiano (relógio biológico) impedindo o hormônio melatonina e alterar os padrões de sono que impedem o seu shuteyes(olhos pesados de sono.
